3PR’s Volunteer Program
If you love birds but cannot adopt or would like more bird experience before you decide to adopt please consider becoming a 3PR volunteer!
3PR is always looking for people who are passionate about parrots to volunteer to help care for our birds. All volunteers must attend an orientation session & bird care training.
Additionally, 3PR uses foster homes to provide many of our birds with the care and socialization they need while they await their permanent homes. Foster homes are able to get to know each bird and then share that knowledge of the bird’s unique personality and behaviors with prospective adopters. This knowledge allows adopters to make an informed decision on which bird best fits their lifestyle and expectations.
Becoming an 3PR Volunteer
If you would like to have the rewarding experience of caring for birds get started by completing our online application.
Once you apply, here is what to expect:
- You will receive a link in your email to take our required online standards of care course, which will take between 2 to 4 hours of your time.
- An 3PR representative will contact you to schedule a time to conduct an orientation at the shelter to learn 3PR’s processes, policies and operations.
- After orientation you will complete two training sessions on daily bird care with an experienced volunteer.
- 3PR asks that volunteers be able to help at the shelter at least two shifts per month – each ranging from two to four hours.
